A Blog

(That I will probably forget about.)

I have decided to somewhat chronicle my growing of vegetables in my back garden, and inside with hydroponics.

In the garden, I currently have a 1 metre by 1 metre raised area full of garlic in the pattern below (Turns out I did not save the image. But it was cool.).

In addition, I have an approximately 40cm high raised area 1.5m by 1m, filled with Denise’s Delight. I will use this area for potatoes when the time is right to plant them.
Also another 20cm high 1.5x1 area, filled with the Delight of Denise already, that I wish to use for onions.

My indoor hydroponics, though, are a bit stalled at the moment. I was going to use the Kratky Method of hands off hydroponics, but I haven’t even set it up yet despite wanting to for months so far. I plan to have 2 or 3 boxes of leafy greens going most of the time, but finding the motivation and energy to do anything about it is hard.

Come spring (Northern Hemisphere) I shall be getting some chilli plant seedlings, which, if it goes like other years, I will kill before long. Hopefully not this time, maybe I should set more, and MORE alarms going off to tell me to do stuff. (Extreme ADHD brain here.)

I also recieved a very nice birthday(!!) gift from a friend which contains about 30 different types of seeds, I still have to plan how/where to plant a lot of these. As well as some wildflower seeds to bring in the pollenators, and some sunflowers because they’re neat!

One of the main reasons I started doing this is because I have tried to go vegan, and I want to know better where my food is coming from. Having food X come from a different continent is probably not the best for the planet when I can grow it here, exceptionally locally.

That’s it for my first post. I will see when I next have the motivation to post again!

Love to you all.
