The Front Garden is Starting to Bloom! Hyacinths and Tulips! Lovely! My front garden springs to life at the start of spring every year, and these are what do it, mostly grape hyacinths, which are kinda invading my garden, and a few tulips, too. Red ones started to bloom, but other colours will be out soon, I think. On the other side of the garden is where it’s still mostly grape hyacinths, but also some tulips.
Types of Local Daffs! I have no photos, because I am not a great rememberer of taking my phone out with Chester, but over the last 3 weeks the daffodils have been out in force, I have seen maybe 200 different blooms across an area of grass near my house. Most of them are around trees, with a few out of tree cover. Most of them are your stereotypical daffodils, but THREE of them are pale, not quite white ones.
Some of the local daffodils are blooming! Let us flipping go! Took Chester on a longer walk than normal today, as I saw the daffodils across the way from me were still not blooming fully and was curious about the ones down the way. Going there, there was about 100 or so different daffodil plants, but these were the only ones which had starting to bloom, glad I was able to go all the way there today.
Seeds planted! More to be planted! Let’s Flipping Go! I got a box of wildflower seeds a few months ago during a period of overbuying stuff I don’t need, but, there we go. I planted them today, in the containers that last year contained my onions. Well, 3/4 of them anyway. (Due to factors meaning I can’t reach the 4th at the moment.) In theory, they should start coming up in a few weeks, and blooming for the insects a little after that.
A brief life update I’ve not been doing the best in the last few weeks, not terrible, at least by my standards, but not really anywhere near good. I’ve had a little depression, my schizophrenia has been a little worse than usual, I’ve had a few physical things be worse than normal, and my self-esteem is in the dumpster! This all lead me to today, I felt it best that I cancelled my usual Thursday TTRPG session (we’re playing Battlestations, so one person not being there is fine, really) which caused me to do a little spiral of doom, nothing major, but this lead to me walking Chester in the rain in 4°C/39°F wearing slippers, because I just couldn’t bring myself to put on shoes and socks.
Let’s have a look at how the garlic is getting on, shall we? The brown leaves are nothing to worry about, I have been told, as long as there’s still some green ones on there, they’re still alive and can grow! This is an upclose of an Elephant Garlic plant, it’s looking pretty nice, I think. And here is a view of most of the non-elephants. The varieties I have, which I cannot remember where I planted in this 1m x 1m square, are:
Storm Ilsa Damage! It could be worse. I am sure the damage at my aunt’s is worse. Sunday night to Monday morning, there was a storm going through the Hibernian archipelago, with red warnings on the Atlantic facing areas on the west of Ireland, where my aunt lives. She and the family is all okay, though they did lose power for a while. My, very annoying more than bad, damage is that a fence panel has come crashing down in my garden.
Let’s put some actual pictures here! This is basically how my garden is now. The black sheets are down because I don’t have a reliable way of keeping wild plants from growing to a state where my housing association (for you Americans, NOT an HOA, but socialised housing) from complaining. I’d prefer to have them do their things however they want, but, I am not allowed to do so. I have a few little flowers coming out, despite it being mid January, probably because until a week ago, it was still unseasonably warm.
A Blog (That I will probably forget about.) I have decided to somewhat chronicle my growing of vegetables in my back garden, and inside with hydroponics. In the garden, I currently have a 1 metre by 1 metre raised area full of garlic in the pattern below (Turns out I did not save the image. But it was cool.). In addition, I have an approximately 40cm high raised area 1.5m by 1m, filled with Denise’s Delight.
